Blue Lake is nestled inland of Arcata along the Mad River. The estimated population for the area is roughly over 1,000 residents. Home to native lands, Blue Lake is filled with members from the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribe which owns the nearby Blue Lake Casino.
Blue Lake is known as the gateway to the serene Mad River Fish Hatchery which is open to the public for exploration. The area is also known for housing the Dell’Arte International school which focuses on the Arts, especially those of the physical nature.
Other than the hatchery and the university, Blue Lake is well known for their local microbreweries and distilleries. If you want to learn how whiskey, rum, and Indian pale ales are made, Blue Lake is the place for you! We highly recommend stopping by the Mad River Tasting Room to get a slice of Humboldt specialty.
